message from txst president dr kelly damphousse

Dear Colleagues:

Since arriving at Texas State, one of my top priorities has been to recognize the exceptional work that you do by addressing the need for salary increases and additional positions. You may recall that I phrased it as “doing more with more” at the Fall 2022 Convocation. Today, I am pleased to announce another significant step in keeping that promise.

Effective September 1, 2023, we will invest $12.3 million in our TXST employees for FY24, which represents a 6.55% increase over our FY23 salary pool. This investment is as follows:

    •    We have created a $5.6 million performance-based merit pool for eligible employees to be awarded at the divisional vice president’s discretion. These merit increases will be permanent.
    •    Regular staff and faculty members with a start date on or before March 1, 2023, who earn under $100,000 (base salary) per year will also receive an automatic, permanent 2% salary adjustment.
    •    All full-time regular employees will now earn an annualized base salary of at least $30,000, which will result in raises of up to 25% for those employees who currently earn less than $30,000.
    •    We will allocate approximately $1 million for the creation of new staff positions.
    •    We will allocate an additional $750,000 for University Longevity Pay and faculty promotion raises.
    •    We have identified approximately $1,750,000 to address the most significant market gaps within our faculty ranks.

As usual, merit and salary adjustments will be reflected in the October 1, 2023, paychecks. Watch for additional details about implementation from our Office of Human Resources. I want to thank our Cabinet and the budget office for their hard work in developing the FY24 salary program.

These investments in you are very well-deserved. They reflect our appreciation for your dedication to our students, and to the level of quality education, service, and support that you provide to our university community.

Please know that my commitment to making TXST an employer of preference will continue beyond this announcement. We have more to do, so let’s keep working together to continue making this a great place to serve, to learn, to discover, to live, and to thrive. I am so proud to serve alongside you. Thank you for all you do.

Sincerely,

Kelly Damphousse, Ph.D.
President
