Top Ten Moments: September 2024

1. Partnering with San Marcos CISD for Dual Credit

It was a historic day for TXST and San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District as we partnered to offer a dual credit program. This allows about 30 high-achieving high school juniors and seniors to attend classes on our campus. This is a win-win for all of us!

2. TXST is Headed South to Querétaro, Mexico

Through the tireless work of our TXST Global team and other partners, we signed an agreement with the Elisia Education Hub in Querétaro, Mexico. We will spend the next year planning the degrees that we will offer starting in Fall 2025.

3. A Bobcat Blowout in the I-35 Rivalry

For the first time in the series, we dominated UTSA 49-10 in the I-35 Rivalry at home to a rowdy crowd of 28,000 Bobcats and community members. And even better, our soccer and volleyball teams have also beaten UTSA this fall. High hopes for the rest of the season!

4. Kicking Off HSI Community Day

What a great time kicking off HSI Community Day at the LBJ Student Center. TXST is proud to be a Hispanic-Serving Institution, and by 2027, we will be one of only about 20 R1-HSI schools. We have several more events and activities planned through National Hispanic Heritage Month.

5. Lighting the Victory Star

I had the honor of flipping the switch on the new Victory Star on top of the JCK building. Many thanks to Austin from Sign Crafters for designing such a beautiful piece of art. Be sure to drive by at night and have a look.

6. Chatting with Lopez Scholars

I always enjoy recently enjoyed a stroll and talking with students as I wander around campus, including our Lopez Scholars. We had 14 enroll last year and they all have returned for their sophomore year. I am so grateful for our TXST Admissions tour guides.

7. Congratulations to Sofia Rodriguez, Senior Communication Design Major

Congratulations to Sofia Rodriguez, a senior majoring in communication design, for winning the Beth Damphousse Art & Design Award! Sofia’s exceptional artwork will be proudly displayed in our home through Fall 2025.

8. Hosting the Student Communication Advisory Board

Beth and I hosted 20 student leaders from the Student Communication Advisory Board for dinner. These remarkable students are presidents of student organizations across campus and are learning a ton about themselves.

9. Sharing the Ice with TXST Hockey

The last time I was in hockey pads was 1984. Thanks to TXST Hockey for letting me share a little ice-time with them. It was a blast reliving some memories and getting some practice in.

10. Meeting Students at the RR Cookout

It was a great day for our 3rd annual Round Rock Campus Cookout. After my State of Round Rock Campus address, faculty and staff members and students all enjoyed food, fun, and good conversations.
